Job summary Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust has an 18 bedded Cardiac Care ward with a 4 bedded Coronary Care Unit within it. Staff work across both areas to ensure experience and exposure of acutely unwell patients is gained. Dorset County Hospital has 2 Cardiac Catheter Labs and an 8 bedded Cardiac day ward/recovery which we work closely alongside. We undertake a number of cardiology procedures such as PCI (percutaneous coronary intervention), Primary PCI, Diagnostic Angiography, ICD, Bi-Ventricular and Pacemaker Implants and Transoesophageal Echo's. Are you a motivated individual with an interest in Cardiology? If so, we have vacancies for Band 2/3 Healthcare Assistants to join our exciting, dynamic team. You will be expected to assist and support our registered nurses in providing high standards of patient centred care and maintain the efficient running of the ward. We welcome candidates already in Band 3 positions and pay grades will be considered according to experience. The expectation is that the successful applicants would rotate between days and nights. Our working day is currently: Day shift 07.30-20.00hrs Night shift 19.30-08.00hrs. We are open for discussion around hours that might suit applicants. Team spirit, enthusiasm and the drive to deliver patient centred care are all essential requirements of prospective post holders. Main duties of the job We currently have vacancies for committed and enthusiastic individuals to complement our well-established friendly and professional team. Applicants will be caring for patients with a wide range of acute and chronic cardiac conditions. The post holder will work closely with the nursing team in the day to day provision of patient care under the supervision of registered nurses. This will require the deployment of communication and interpersonal skills. The post holder will be expected to undertake personal care for patients, perform vital observations, and report concerns and information to the registered nurse(s).
