Childrens Occupational Therapy Service, Childrens Integrated Therapies
Band 5 Paediatric Occupational Therapy Post, 37.5 hours per week
We are seeking a Band 5 Occupational Therapist to join our Childrens Occupational Therapy Service. This Post has arisen due to an internal promotion. You will be a key part of our Childrens Occupational Therapy Team. You will be keen to develop your OT skills and deliver services to improve outcomes for children and families. The role will be ideal for a new graduate or for an experienced OT keen to develop skills working with children. Our Childrens OT team is expanding following some additional investment so its a great time to join our team.
Main duties of the job
You will work in the Childrens OT team which covers South Tyneside and Sunderland. You will work in clinic, home and education settings. You will be motivated to support children to achieve their best outcomes. You will be involved in assessing children and providing appropriate outcome-focused advice and interventions, to maintain and promote skills and independence. Support and supervision will be provided from more experienced therapists. You will also work closely with Speech and Language Therapists and Physiotherapists as well as Paediatricians and colleagues in Education. You will be joining a team of enthusiastic OTs across the Trust who are working together to develop services and improve outcomes for children. You will be part of a wider Therapies Directorate within a Trust that is keen to develop and support staff through supervision and CPD. You will be supported to work innovatively as we take the agenda for Childrens OT forward in-line with current national and clinical drivers.

To provide an Occupational Therapy service to a particular speciality under the direction of a senior qualified Occupational Therapist.
To manage a defined caseload, using evidence-based/client-centered principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions in clinic, community settings and home visits as applicable.

Experience

* Experience of being part of a multi-disciplinary team. Experience of working with people with a physical illness or disability.
* Occupational Therapy or Student placement experience working with patients who have had a range of functional difficulties.
Qualifications
Essential
* Recognised Degree in Occupational Therapy.
* Registration with the Health Care Professional Council.
* Understanding of the role of the Childrens Occupational Therapist in community setting.
* Knowledge of the importance of multi-disciplinary working and the role of other professions.
* Knowledge of a range of medical conditions and their impact on individuals functional ability.
* Knowledge of NHS and Social Services.
* Knowledge of a range of assistive equipment.
