Main duties of the job
To work as an integral part of the team, reporting to Matron/ Nurse in Charge for day-to-day routine duties. Working under the direct supervision of Nursing staff, the post holder will be responsible for the co-ordination, alongside stores, of the stock replenishment for the department. This will involve replenishment of stock to various areas of the department to enable nursing teams to work more efficiently.
The role will also involve general cleaning following strict cleaning and replenishment checklists to support the smooth running of the department. The post holder will be invaluable in supporting the efficiency of patient admissions and discharges to ensure and minimise delays.
The post holder will be responsible for ensuring correct meals are delivered to the patients and families, liaising with the nursing teams to support the nutritional requirements for patients within the children's ward.
The post holder will also undertake general housekeeping duties, whilst ensuring a safe, organised, clean and comfortable environment for patients, carers and all service users.
To support the delivery of a high-quality, safe and compassionate healthcare service, with all staff expected to act as a role model to others in all aspects of their work and consistently demonstrate the Trust values.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Communicate with staff, patients, including carers and relatives, promoting good public relationships. Establish and maintain a working rapport with the procurement staff, nursing, medical, technical, ancillary and admin colleagues.
Communicate effectively with all the multi-disciplinary teams and liaise with other agencies, as appropriate promoting positive working relationships.
Take responsibility for your own learning objectives and alongside the departmental leads.
To complete your training needs analysis through ESR and undertake all training relevant to the role.
To analyse stock replenishment and ensure adequate availability of stores are accessible within all areas of the clinical environment and to highlight and escalate any issues to the senior team.
Ensure department carry out adequate stock levels of consumables and participate in ordering of consumables. Ensure stock is put away and stored correctly and in a timely manner.
To ensure stock room and clinical areas are clean and clutter-free, whilst promoting a safe working environment and completion of appropriate cleaning and safety checklists.
Check oxygen cylinders are available, in working order and full daily. That they are stored correctly, in line with Health & Safety. Liaise directly with oxygen services for replacements.
To ensure procedure trolleys (linen trolley) are replenished and ready for use.

To support the admin and clerical service to welcome patient relatives and assure correct processes are followed prior to entering the clinical area.
Ensure the environment is tidy, clean and prepared for patients at all times, respecting the privacy and dignity of patients and maintaining infection control standards whilst carrying out this role.
Ensure patients' property is stored securely and support the nursing teams to document thoroughly.
To order adequate supplies daily, ensuring all patients’ needs are catered for. To serve patient meals including hot and cold beverages, in accordance with food hygiene regulations.
Ensuring the kitchen, equipment and utensils along with surfaces are clean at all times and comply with food hygiene standards.
Person specification
* Experience: Hospital setting experience
* Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with patients, families, and colleagues.
* Basic Literacy and numeracy skills
* IT Proficiency: Competence in using electronic patient records and other healthcare IT systems.
* Adaptability: Ability to remain calm and effective in high-pressure situations.
