GSL Education are seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to provide tailored support for students with Special Educational Needs in Croydon. Here are some key responsibilities you would typically have as a SEN Teaching Assistant:
* Implement Educational Healthcare Plans (EHCPs): Support individual students by following their specific needs outlined in their EHCPs, ensuring the best possible learning outcomes.
* Behavioural Management: Assist in creating a positive and engaging learning environment, applying effective strategies to promote good behaviour and student well-being.
* Support Student Engagement: Work directly with students to ensure they are included and engaged in classroom activities, encouraging participation and fostering confidence.
* Collaborate with Teachers and Staff: Work closely with teaching staff, SENCOs, and other support personnel to ensure a holistic approach to each student s learning.
* Monitor Student Progress: Regularly track and document students development, providing feedback to the educational team to facilitate continuous improvement.
* Provide one-to-one or small group support to students with special educational needs.
* Support the classroom teacher with daily lesson delivery and classroom management.
The successful candidate for SEN Teaching Assistant will have:
* Experience working with children, ideally in a Special Educational Needs (SEN) setting.
* CACHE Level 2 or 3, NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare or Teaching Assistance, or a relevant qualification is desirable.
* A Bachelor s degree in Education, Psychology, or a related field is advantageous.
* Knowledge of SEN strategies, including autism and social, emotional, and mental health needs.
* Patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills.
* Ability to build rapport with students, staff, and parents.
* A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
