THE ROLE
Would you like to be part of the daytime programme for BBC Radio Lancashire? We have an opportunity for a great journalist to join us as the producer on Sharon Hartley’s programme. You'll be finding and telling great stories from across Lancashire. Whatever the story, we want someone that is creative and can help bring stories to life for our listeners. You’ll be a self-starter, who knows how to find the best stories and guests, but we also want a responsible pair of hands with an understanding of BBC values and editorial guidelines. As well as delivering for radio, you’ll also need to think about digital content, including photos and videos. A knowledge of Lancashire would be an advantage, but we're mainly after someone with great ideas and experience of on-air programme production.
Main Responsibilities
* You’ll be the producer for BBC Radio Lancashire's daytime programme presented by Sharon Hartley.
* You will be pitching stories and guests, helping the production teams to plan shows.
* You’ll also be creating digital content for BBC online, social media and the BBC Sounds rail.
* You may occasionally be asked to cover other shifts on the rota, which could include early or late shifts, or weekend working.

Essential skills
* A self-starter who knows a good local story and how to find it.
* Ability to use technology as required especially experience of the technology for on-air studio programme production.
* Demonstrates a creative approach to story-telling.
* Able to build and maintain effective working relationships with a range of people especially the programme presenter and other members of the programme team.
Knowledge, Skills, Training & Experience
* Significant recent experience as a journalist especially programme production, with a good knowledge of production techniques.
* Effective planning and organising skills, ability to concentrate on several areas of work at one time, delivering consistently to deadlines and reacting positively to changes and conflicting priorities.
* Demonstrates sound editorial and policy decisions based upon a clear understanding of the BBC’s distinctive news agenda.
* Ability to write creatively in an engaging manner, adapt, produce and translate with accuracy, clarity and style appropriate to differing audiences and forms of media suitable for multimedia output.
* An understanding of health and safety procedures and how they apply to broadcasting.
