Community Services Health Care Assistant
Whaddon Healthcare is a forward-thinking and progressive organisation, and this is an exciting opportunity for a health care assistant who wishes to develop their career in General Practice. The role will involve working and supporting our community-based services including Heart Failure Service, Respiratory, Gynaecology, and Cardiology.
The role will be based across our two sites and will include home visits. The working pattern can be negotiated; however, this will include some weekend and evening work.
Main Duties of the Job
Duties may include any of the following, subject to necessary training and supervision where required:
1. Recording of Observations
2. ECG recordings
3. Measurement of height and weight
4. Calculation of BMI
5. Chaperoning as and when required
6. Fitting of ABPMs
7. Fitting of cardiac monitors
8. Urinalysis
9. Point of care testing
10. To assist visiting Consultants in Gynaecology Clinics
11. Performing Spirometry after training
12. Supporting Heart Failure and Respiratory nurses in their roles, which would include some home visits
13. Recording information both manually and on the computer system
14. Maintenance of equipment log cleaning service etc.
15. Undertaking other clinical activities identified by the Practice Nurse or Doctor in accordance with agreed written protocols

* HCA Experience
* Good time management and able to work within appointment system
* Good team member
* Good rapport with patients
* Evidence of personal development
* Can offer holiday & sickness cover
* Full and clean driving licence and able to complete home visits
* Willingness to take part in PCT/wider activities
* Knowledge of SystmOne computer system
* Experience of working in general practice
