We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Part Time SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team in Leeds. The Role:
As a Part Time SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting SEN pupils in a mainstream school setting. Your responsibilities will include:
* Providing one-on-one and small group support to children with diverse needs, including ASD, ADHD, sensory needs, and emotional regulation.
* Assisting in the development and implementation of individualised education plans (IEPs) and Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
* Supporting classroom teachers in managing challenging behaviours and promoting a positive learning environment.
* Encouraging social and emotional development through engaging activities and tailored support.
* Participating in training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.
The Ideal Person:
We are looking for someone who is not only passionate about working with children with special educational needs but also possesses the following qualifications and skills:
* A teaching assistant qualification, childcare qualification, or early years qualification.
* Experience in a similar role, particularly with managing challenging behaviours and supporting children with SEN.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues.
* An empathetic, proactive, and patient approach to supporting children with diverse needs.
* A commitment to ongoing professional development and a willingness to learn new strategies and techniques.
* The ability to work effectively as part of a team, as well as independently when required.
* A positive attitude and a passion for making a difference in the lives of children with SEN.
The School:
You will be working in a specialist school setting that is committed to providing an inclusive and supportive environment for children with SEN. The school offers well-equipped classrooms and facilities designed to meet the needs of all pupils. You will be joining a collaborative and dedicated team of professionals, including teachers, therapists, and support staff. The school is easily accessible by public transport and has on-site parking available for staff.
Hours:
Working hours are 8.30 am to 3.30 pm, Monday to Friday. Part-time applications are preferred, allowing for flexibility to suit your individual needs and commitments.

Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. We undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available.
