Job Description:
Position Overview: We are seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Business Development Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical and electrical building services, with a proven track record in driving business growth and developing strategic partnerships. This role requires a proactive individual with excellent communication and negotiation skills, capable of identifying and capitalising on new business opportunities, writing compelling bids, and presenting them to clients, with the support of a strong team behind them.
Key Responsibilities:
1. In collaboration with the Managing Director, develop and implement business development strategies to achieve company growth objectives.
2. Identify and pursue new business opportunities in the mechanical and electrical building services market, across facilities management and our project installation opportunities.
3. Build and maintain strong relationships with potential clients, consultants, contractors, and industry partners.
4. Conduct market research to stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and potential areas for expansion.
5. Prepare and deliver compelling presentations and proposals to clients and stakeholders.
6. Write and present detailed bids and tenders to clients, ensuring they are tailored to meet client requirements and highlight the company’s strengths, working in collaboration with the Business Development co-ordinator.
7. Collaborate with the Operations management teams to ensure seamless handovers of sales and client satisfaction.
8. Negotiate contracts and agreements with clients, ensuring favourable terms and conditions.
9. Participate in industry events and networking activities to enhance the company’s visibility and reputation.
10. Monitor and report on sales performance metrics, providing regular updates to the Managing Director.
11. Stay updated with the latest developments in mechanical and electrical building services and integrate this knowledge into business development strategies.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business Administration, or a related field would be preferable.
2. Minimum of 3 years of experience in business development, sales, or a related role within the mechanical and electrical building services industry.
3. Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical building services, including HVAC, plumbing, fire, electrical systems, and renewable energy solutions.
4. Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving business growth.
5. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
6. Demonstrated experience in writing and presenting bids and tenders to clients.
7. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
8. Proficiency in using CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
9. Valid UK driving license and willingness to travel as required.
