We are exceptionally proud of our service and are seeking a motivated and driven individual to join the team as a band 7 Community Tuberculosis Specialist Nurse. To work as an advanced practitioner and effectively collaboratively deliver an expert nursing service within the TB specialist area, working to prevent and control the spread of infection within the local community. The post holder is a key member of the TB team whose overarching goal is to deliver quality clinical and nursing care and TB prevention and control.
The post is part time (30 hours weekly 9 to 5) excluding Bank Holidays and weekends, with a base in Gt Yarmouth. The post-holder will work as part of the Community TB nursing team, providing community care across the Gt Yarmouth and Waveney footprint. Main duties of the job
The TB nurse specialist will be a member of the TB service providing support to patients and their families delivering expert patient-centred nursing care and act as a case manager for patients being treated for Tuberculosis (TB) and Latent TB Infection (LTBI). The role is patient-facing and will include nurse-led clinics, home visits, and managing a varied caseload (both adults and children). You will be working closely with other agencies, providing education, and raising awareness of TB.
Job responsibilities
1. Holds own defined caseload.
2. Contact, assess, monitor, and support patients/clients and their families ensuring holistic health needs assessment as well as TB medication compliance, TB treatment and follow-up.
3. Communicate highly sensitive and complex condition-related information to staff, patients, and relatives.
4. Liaise with the Professional clinical lead for Tuberculosis, East of England Health Protection team, Medical Microbiologists, GPs, and community staff as required.
5. Attend/participate in Tuberculosis Incident Management Team meetings as directed.
6. Investigate, support, and screen contacts of TB infection in nurse-led clinics.
7. Develop individual care plans in partnership with clients based on a shared assessment of need.
8. Review/update Tuberculosis Service Policies in collaboration with TB Service Head.
9. Deputise for the Professional clinical lead (tuberculosis) on several committees as required.
10. Act as the lead Tuberculosis Specialist when a more senior TB team member is not available.
11. Attend in-service training courses and study sessions as appropriate to maintain own competencies.
12. Plan, implement and evaluate Tuberculosis training to students and other members of ECCH staff.
13. Act as a source of expert advice regarding Tuberculosis infection prevention control information to patients, contacts, and members of the public.
14. Maintain contemporaneous and accurate written and electronic records in partnership with clients and in accordance with policies and procedures.
15. Take responsibility for management of team members as required.
16. Write reports and participate in audit on service delivery, as required for manager and ECCH Board.
17. Collaboratively devise local protocols for specialist working and ensure implementation as required.

* Significant post-registration experience at senior level Band 6 and above

* Knowledge of theoretical frameworks underpinning clinical TB practice
* Experience of planning and implementing care plans and patient pathways

Qualifications
* Registered Nurse with current NMC Registration
* Educated to Degree level in a relevant subject or equivalent level of qualification or significant equivalent previous proven experience
* Evidence of further training or significant post-registration experience in TB, Infection Control, Public Health or Community nursing.
* Willingness to undertake further training to enhance professional practice
* Non-medical prescribing course or willing to undertake within 2 years
* ENB 998 or equivalent
* Relevant teaching qualification or teaching experience
