As the Campus Cafe Manager, a typical day might include:
1. Being responsible for cooking and preparing a variety of dishes, ensuring that food is fresh and adheres to health & safety standards.
2. Devising menus, cooking, and presenting a range of dishes to a high standard within budgetary constraints.
3. Managing the on-site cafe alongside catering of the conferencing facilities, ensuring each day runs smoothly and efficiently whilst also delivering a great experience and culture for our people, partners, and customers.
4. Overseeing daily operation of the café, including scheduling and menu development.
5. Supporting the planning and delivery of catering for events and workshops.
6. Ensuring full compliance with health and safety and food hygiene regulations at all times, carrying out audits and maintaining accurate records.
7. Organising procurement of catering supplies, negotiating best value for money, and ensuring management of stock.
8. Leading a team of staff, providing feedback and support, alongside developing skills.
9. Promoting excellent customer service, leading by example.
10. Working with the Campus team to develop promotions and events that drive customer engagement.
What looks good to us:
1. NVQ 1&2 in Catering and Hospitality (or equivalent qualification).
2. Level 2/3 Certificate in Food Safety in Catering.
3. Sound budget and food cost control along with strong organisational and administrative skills.
4. A good level of Health & Safety knowledge and an ability to apply this.
5. Strong literacy skills with the ability to write clearly and effectively and to communicate with a variety of different people.
6. An organised individual who can plan and carry out a varied busy workload.
7. Ability to manage and motivate a team.
8. A flexible approach to work and the ability to meet challenges and adapt to change.
9. Full driver’s licence desirable but not essential; must be able to travel to the Campus of Future Living, Mablethorpe.
10. Good knowledge of IT systems and Microsoft packages.
