Due to an expansion of our Building Safety Team, we currently have an opportunity for a Building Safety Support Officer to help us deliver planned and cyclical work programmes.
You’ll be working alongside a close-knit, professional team who are dedicated and passionate about delivering a first-class service for our customers with a focus on their safety.

About Us:
Cannock Chase Council currently manages a housing portfolio of approximately 5,100 properties. We are proud to deliver both a new build programme and a planned investment programme of over £8m to repair and improve existing housing stock in order to provide a quality service and outcome for our residents.
Our relatively small stock skirts the edge of the fantastic National Landscape, Cannock Chase.
We have recently secured funding to improve Cannock town center which will complement the new West Midlands Designer Outlet Village situated a 5 minute drive away.
Cannock Chase Council is committed to the Climate emergency and has ambitious plans to meet Net Zero by 2030.
What you will be doing:
A typical day for you would include:
1. Assisting our Technical Officers with the management, monitoring and organisation of planned and cyclical works by providing valuable administrative and IT skills, such as data entry, data analysis, customer profiling, and electronic record keeping.
2. Managing the day-to-day activities of the Gas Safety Access Procedure, which includes liaising with contractors, tenants, and our Tenancy Services Team to ensure we gain access into our homes and carry out the annual gas safety checks.
3. Assisting the Technical Officers with identifying trends within the Access procedure and repairs activities to help improve our service delivery.
4. Responding to customer enquiries and complaints. Helping our tenants with any questions or queries they may have.
You will play a key role in helping Cannock Chase Council deliver its vision of providing safe, comfortable, affordable, and sustainable homes for our customers.
About You:
We are looking for someone who has relevant knowledge and experience of working within an environment delivering planned maintenance and upgrade works, particularly if you have experience of working within the Gas industry; you will have GCSEs in English and Mathematics at Grade C or above (or equivalent vocational or academic experience).
You will be capable of effective communication with people at all levels both externally and within the organisation. You will have excellent IT skills with a proven ability to develop software to improve effective working methods and be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office packages in your day-to-day work.
You will have strong data analysis skills and always be looking to improve the service we deliver.
