Brief Description Who we are looking for We’re looking for an Assistant Engineer to join the S&C team to provide technical engineering support for information management, delivery of projects and the inspection of assets. Ideally you have completed either the NR modern apprentice or graduate engineering schemes in track engineering About The Role (External) About Technical Authority Technical Authority (TA) are a vitally important part of the freight and passenger business. We do this through providing technical leadership and specialist expertise, managing the National Control and Competence Frameworks, facilitating technical growth and lateral learning and assuring regional delivery. Our role is to find creative technical solutions to problems, to set effective strategy and policy, to cut red tape, to find better ways of doing things and to provide strong competence and assurance regimes that make sure we do things effectively. Within the S&C Team there are 3 individual peer groups this vacancy relates to the maintenance support peer group. As part of this peer group you will have day to day interaction with maintenance where you will focus on business-critical issues providing support and solutions. You will assist in undertaking detailed investigations into failures and incidents identifying root cause. Undertake data assurance activities, verify data requirements undertake analysis, review and interpret analysis and make recommendations. You will also be involved in updating critical track standards to reflect the current business needs and risks. Contribute to the development of data collection, methodologies and assurance mechanism. What does the average day look like? In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to grow professionally, enhance your expertise, and work towards further qualifications. You’ll contribute to developing and refining data collection methodologies, assurance frameworks, and key performance indicators for track S&C, while supporting the improvement of standards, processes, and systems. Your responsibilities will include conducting data assurance activities, analysing and interpreting information, managing records, and responding promptly to inquiries. You’ll also create and refine schematics, technical drawings, and documentation, while supporting and delivering projects within time, quality, and budget constraints. As needed, you’ll step into a Delivery Manager role, leading specific projects or portfolios to successful outcomes.
