Summary Due to continued growth, YASA is looking for an experienced Engineer to carry out methodical, and structured investigations of faults reported in returned YASA motors. We are looking for a candidate with considerable experience working in mechanical engineering environments, and who can work with mechanical tooling and parts. Determining the root causes of reported faults using recognised analysis processes, such as 8D, Five Whys, Fault Tree etc. Engaging with multidisciplinary teams during the definition and investigation phases of 8D processes. Ensuring lessons learned from investigations are documented and collated such that they can be appropriately incorporated into YASA’s product range. Documenting investigations in a timely manner to allow tracking and reporting of their status and progress. Conceive, plan, oversee and execute tests and trials designed to establish the root causes of reported faults. Set out clear investigation strategies to instruct and guide Technician colleagues in their execution, when required. Document investigations accurately and thoroughly to produce appropriate engineering reports in a timely manner. Supervise and assist the career development of Fault Analysis Engineer direct reports. Provide guidance and support to Fault Analysis Engineers within the team. To succeed in this role, we believe you'll need: To hold a relevant engineering qualification (e.g. mechanical or electrical). To have experience in fault or failure investigation, or of test or development in a similar, relevant environment (e.g. automotive, aerospace, precision engineering). To have considerable experience working with mechanical parts and/or machinery. To have practical experience in the use and application of electric or other rotational machines. To evidence a pragmatic approach to problem-solving and the ability to apply knowledge to real-world situations. To be able to communicate the progress and results of investigations, in progress and upon completion in a relevant and appropriate way. To be familiar with FMEA and 8D processes and supporting techniques. To have working knowledge and understanding of the properties of a range of engineering materials, and their applications. A flexible approach and the ability to succeed in a dynamic, fast-moving environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills. An enquiring and questioning mind, asking “why?” and “what if?”. A practical, hands-on approach when required and appropriate. Willingness to travel as required. Our mission is to lead the design and delivery of the best electric motor technology available. We believe that diversity of thought, and experience is a key driver of innovation. Research shows that while men apply to jobs if they meet 60% of criteria, women and those in traditionally underrepresented groups tend to only apply if they check all boxes. So if you think you have what it takes but don’t meet every single point, please still get in touch. We’d love to have an initial chat and see if you could add value.
