Job Description
The salary for this role is £48,376. Onsite working is expected for 3 days each week, however, we actively support requests for flexible working.
This role is to be based at the following site: Rotherham, South Yorkshire.
This role requires employees to complete an online Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), including The Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) checks for criminal convictions and possibly a search of open source data.
The Role

As Health and Safety Manager (FTF), you will play a pivotal role in managing the HSSE (Health, Safety, Security, Environment) Section at the Fusion Technology Facility (FTF) at our Rotherham site in South Yorkshire. You will be expected to enable, review and inspire with regard to HSSE issues. You will promote a positive safety culture within FTF and the wider UKAEA community.
Key Accountabilities:
* Promote a positive safety culture within FTF and the wider UKAEA community.
* Work with key stakeholders to proactively manage the day-to-day Safety, Health and Environment Section of build phase design, build and future operations of projects at FTF.
* Maintain the Incident Management System for FTF, investigate risks, incidents, near misses and escalate to appropriate team to prevent reoccurrence.
* Produce excellent HSSE documentation regarding complex major projects containing lifting equipment, mechanical systems, electrical systems, C&I systems and a range of High Hazards such as gases, stored energy and very high temperatures/pressures.
* Act as lead contact for advice and guidance to the project Teams relating to Construction, Design and Management (CDM).
* Manage and maintain all aspects of emergency planning such as the site emergency plan and disseminate all emergency protocols to staff and visitors.
* Act as the main point of contact for SHE advice for the site and the capital projects.
* Undertake duties as Area Safety Coordinator for the FTF.
* Develop and deliver training as required, inspiring others to execute best practice in regard to HSSE.
* Coordinate with the UKAEA QSHE Group and ensure all UKAEA procedures are adhered to where applicable.
* Work with the construction manager and construction subcontractors to ensure safe project delivery including review, approval and compliance with RAMS.
Qualifications
* Qualified to degree level or NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health or demonstrable equivalent experience.
* Demonstrable experience leading HS&E across complex major M&E projects containing high hazard plant.
* Prior experience of working in a highly regulated environment is essential.
* Prior experience of construction, installation, commissioning, and operations is essential.
* Ability to clearly communicate both verbally and through the production of written reports.
* Ability to constructively interact with a variety of stakeholders at all levels of the business.
* Demonstrably proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite, in particular Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint.
* NEBOSH National certificate in Construction.
* Degree or equivalent (NVQ5 or IOSH) in related STEM subject.
* In depth knowledge of ISO 9001:2008, ISO14001, ISO450001.
* Experience working within diverse and multi-disciplinary teams.
