The Role
As a Contractor Coordinator, you’ll have a role that is out of the ordinary. You will be responsible for leading and coordinating the effective management of contractors and control of work activities on site. This will be in accordance with all H&S policies specifically the Construction Design Management (CDM) Regulations; including induction, permit raising, and works monitoring.
Day-to-day, you will ensure all contractors are inducted bringing attention to the rules, safety procedures, hazards, and emergency protocols on site. In addition, you’ll check and maintain competency records before undertaking work and ensure that the induction log is updated as well as deliver a weekly plan of sub-contracted work activities for the Delivery Leads.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Ensuring correct issuing of permits to proceed for contractors and notify the relevant owner of the task (Delivery Lead/PM/POM) that contractors have attended in accordance with the plan.
* Monitoring regularly the health and safety performance of contractors and that the in-house labour is using the work monitoring process, then decide the frequency of work monitoring required.
* Communicating proposed work to necessary stakeholders, ensuring that any work does not conflict with trials or activities.
* Cleaning of offices, accommodation rooms, conference rooms, workshops, kitchens, toilets/showers, windows, signage, and other general areas across site.
* Safely using and managing cleaning materials, equipment/tools, substances, and areas; ensuring appropriate storage and signage are applied as necessary.
* Collection of waste items from across the site and disposal in the correct receptacles; including kitchen & dry waste recycling bins, weighing and recording for audit purposes.
This role is full-time, 37 hours per week and based at our MoD BUTEC site in Kyle of Lochalsh. You will also be required to travel to our site in Applecross to support as and when required.
Essential experience of the Contractor Coordinator:
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and commitment to delivering excellent customer service.
* Self-starter with the ability to work without supervision and the ability to interpret and work within procedures.
* Knowledge of the CDM Regulations.
* Demonstrable experience with Microsoft Office and other IT applications.
* Willingness to learn new skills and processes and guide and train others.
* A commitment to continuous improvement both personal and process.
Essential qualifications of the Contractor Coordinator:
* Level 3 NVQ in engineering or technical (or similar field) OR provide evidence of recent relevant administrative experience in a similar role.
Please note that all applicants must be eligible for SC clearance as a minimum.
