Position Overview: As a Civil Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the civil design aspects of substation projects. You will work closely with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure the successful delivery of projects that meet client specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. This role offers hybrid working arrangements, allowing you to work both remotely and from our Stafford office. Key Responsibilities: Develop and produce detailed civil design drawings and documentation for substation projects up to 400kV. Collaborate with electrical engineers and other stakeholders to integrate civil and structural aspects into overall project designs. Conduct site visits and surveys to gather necessary data and assess project requirements. Ensure designs comply with relevant standards, codes, and regulations, including National Grid specifications. Provide technical support and guidance during the construction phase to ensure designs are accurately implemented. Review and approve contractor and supplier submissions related to civil design. Manage and coordinate with external consultants and contractors as needed. Prepare and present design reports, calculations, and risk assessments. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, technologies, and best practices in civil design and substation projects. Essential Qualifications and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. Proven experience in civil design engineering, specifically within the context of substation projects up to 400kV. Strong knowledge of substation layout, foundation design, drainage systems, and structural analysis. Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and other relevant engineering tools. Excellent understanding of relevant standards, codes, and regulations, including those set by the National Grid. Ability to work effectively in a hybrid working environment, managing time and tasks independently.
