Finance Officer

Location: Birmingham City Centre
Salary: £25,000 - £30,000 per annum
Contract: Temporary to Permanent
Working Pattern: 3 days on-site (negotiable after 3-month training period)
Responsibilities:
1. Manage NetSuite by setting up department codes and employees and updating employee details.
2. Handle month-end duties, including preparing journals, managing R&M Maintenance, CAS-2, Education, Justice & Health, Fixed Assets, sessional accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations.
3. Oversee procurement card and petty cash transactions.
4. Validate, format, and distribute reports.
5. Action outputs from meetings, code remittances, conduct cost code analysis, perform general data analysis, handle recoding, and manage funder returns.
6. Assist with budget preparation and monitoring, providing variance analysis and explanations.
7. Support the finance team in annual audits by preparing necessary documentation and liaising with auditors.
8. Process accounts payable and receivable transactions, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
9. Reconcile bank statements and resolve discrepancies promptly.
10. Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with company policies and regulations.
11. Collaborate with other departments to provide financial insights and support decision-making.
12. Prepare and submit VAT returns and other regulatory filings as required.
13. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to streamline financial processes and enhance efficiency.
Skills:
14. Excel proficiency: data sorting and manipulation, lookups, pivot tables, basic functions (SUM, SORT, SUMIF, filters, duplicates, formatting).
15. Attributes: can-do attitude, team player, strong communication skills, initiative-driven, previous finance experience, experience with finance systems.
About You:
You must be available to start immediately and be looking for a long-term career. While NetSuite experience is preferable, it is not essential. You should be ambitious and looking for progression.
