Sheffield Children's is looking for a Support Cost Accountant to join our Income and Costing team. You will assist the Principal Income and Costing Accountant in managing the Trust's Patient Level Costing (PLICS) model, ensuring accurate internal reporting and submission of national cost collections.
You will maintain the Trust's costing software, ensure accurate data input and cost allocation updates, and produce costed outputs for both internal and external reporting. Additionally, you will help keep the cost model current with industry best practices and analyse data to support decision-making across services.

Main duties of the job
Reporting into the Principal Income and Cost Accountant, your responsibilities will include:
1. Maintain the costing system, ensuring data accuracy and cost allocation.
2. Produce and distribute costing reports for our internal and external partners.
3. Manage our Business Intelligence and Data Visualisation dashboards, investigate outliers, and ensure report accuracy. Administer user access and licence records.
4. Ensure system updates and maintain audit-compliant documentation.
5. Attend costing meetings and support benchmarking efforts.
6. Provide training on costing dashboards and collaborate to resolve issues.
7. Analyse cost data to support the Trust's Value Improvement Process.
8. Stay current with costing standards and participate in relevant forums.
9. Support the Trust's goals by promoting accurate costing data and clinical engagement.

Person Specification
Qualifications and Training
* Maths and English GCSE or equivalent at grade C or above
* Evidence of CPD
* Degree or equivalent
* AAT technician or equivalent
* Usercost training
* Costing training
Experience
* Experience of building working relationships with colleagues of varying levels and working with internal and external stakeholders
* NHS Finance experience
* NHS Patient level costing experience in an acute Trust
* Detailed knowledge and understanding of the issues facing the NHS
Knowledge and skills
* Knowledge of accounting processes and procedures
* Knowledge of costing principles and activity based costing
* Highly experienced user of Excel and Access
* Ability to work flexibly as part of a team and be a supportive work colleague
* Ability to produce complex data analysis using large datasets
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills
* Experience of using UserCost costing software
* Knowledge with Qlikview
* SQL skills to analyse data
* Use of financial systems to provide high quality reporting and analysis
