Job Purpose
The Chef is responsible for preparing and presenting high-quality meals while maintaining excellent standards of food safety and hygiene. This role involves creating dishes that align with the menu and contributing to the overall success of the kitchen by supporting team members and ensuring efficient operations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Food Preparation and Cooking:
Prepare, cook, and present dishes to a high standard and in line with recipes and specifications.
Ensure that food is consistently fresh, well-seasoned, and visually appealing.
Collaborate on menu planning and contribute ideas for new dishes or improvements.
2. Hygiene and Safety:
Maintain a clean and safe working environment, adhering to health and safety regulations.
Follow food hygiene standards, including correct storage, preparation, and labeling practices.
Perform daily and periodic cleaning tasks to ensure kitchen compliance with regulations.
3. Team Collaboration:
Work closely with other chefs, kitchen staff, and front-of-house team members to ensure smooth service.
Train and mentor junior kitchen staff, helping them to develop their skills.
Assist in managing stock levels, ordering supplies, and reducing food waste.
4. Operational Efficiency:
Monitor food preparation to minimize waste and maintain cost control.
Ensure timely preparation and delivery of food during busy service periods.
Report equipment issues or maintenance needs to the Head Chef or Kitchen Manager promptly.
Person Specification
1. Skills and Experience:
Proven experience as a chef in a professional kitchen environment.
Culinary qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 2 or equivalent) are desirable but not essential.
Excellent cooking skills and a passion for creating high-quality dishes.
Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and allergen regulations.

Highly organized and able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining standards.
Team-oriented with excellent communication skills.
Adaptable and open to learning new techniques or styles of cuisine.
