The Biomedical Science team at Pulse are currently recruiting a Band 8 Biomedical Scientist in Histology to work in Devon. We are looking for a biomedical scientist who can make a real difference in supporting the laboratory’s service.

What will you be doing in this Biomedical Scientist role?
As a Biomedical Scientist in Histology, you will have good knowledge of laboratory informatics systems. On a day to day basis you will be supporting the senior biomedical scientists in the delivery of the service and providing guidance to junior members of staff.

Essential Requirements for this Biomedical Scientist position:
7. HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist
8. MSc approved by the Institute of Biomedical Sciences and/or Fellowship of the IBMS or IBMS Higher Specialist Diploma
9. Wide knowledge of histopathology techniques, including Health & Safety, legal and administrative requirements
10. Substantial experience as a Chief BMS (Band 8a)
11. Management/leadership qualification
12. Chartered Scientist
13. Good knowledge of laboratory informatics systems
14. Possess financial and budgetary awareness
15. Good communication and interpersonal skills
16. Use of the Winpath LIMS (laboratory information management system)
17. Previous involvement in design and roll out of laboratory informatics system
18. Knowledge of mortuary procedures
19. Knowledge of cytology procedures
20. Experience in equipment selection and preparation of business cases
21. Manual dexterity in use of microtomes and performance of specimen dissection
22. Unavoidable exposure to potentially dangerous biological specimens (HIV, Hep B&C +ve etc)
23. Daily use of manual techniques involving the use of potentially hazardous chemicals and reagents
