Job Description: Reports to: Junior Activities Manager Department: Junior Activities Department Working Pattern: Saturday and Sunday (weekday work available in our camp during school holidays) Working Hours: 08:45 - 18:45 (1 hour 15 minute lunch break) Colets childcare has a rare opportunity as a Junior Activities and Party Supervisor. This is a weekend role, Saturday & Sunday that would ideally suit someone who lives locally or can get to Thames Ditton easily. There is the opportunity for this person to work additional hours during the school holidays in our holiday camp should they like. You will be responsible and take a lead role for the general care and safety of all children within the room or party, ensuring that the needs of the children are met and are age appropriate. Must have experience of working with children to be considered for this role. You will be the lead co-ordinator and will offer support and guidance to those parents leaving their children in our care. Key requirements of the role: To be confident in managing accidents/incidents and filling in accident report forms Responsible for setting up and packing away and en sure rooms are ready for use e.g., function room swimming pool Responsible for managing any problems or situations so that there is a as little disruption as possible to the sessions You will role model best practice and give the team constructive feedback as and when required on shift You work in collaboration with the JA management team by feeding back any notes after each shift Must be confident in talking to parents and have a good understanding of customer service Care standards To work within the Ofsted Welfare Requirements. [1:8 ratio and staff must be DBS checked] Health and Safety You will take a lead role in all Health & Safety matters during your shift. This will include: Ensuring the care, maintenance and security of all equipment/toys in the junior activities department Ensuring that standards of health, safety and security are operated at all times Aware of the departmental fire drill procedure Ensuring the health and safety regulations run by the Ofsted standards are followed Qualifications / Education / Training: · NVQ Level 2 in Play work or willingness to complete course - Desirable · First Aid trained - preferable but will be provided · Child protection & Safeguarding - preferable but will be provided Experience: · Experience of working with children aged 4 – 12yrs · Experience of dealing with parents and customers Knowledge: · Knowledge of Ofsted and the Early Years Foundation Stage Welfare Requirements · Knowledge of the Play work industry Skills & Competencies: · Excellent communication skills, particularly able to communicate with children · Ability to work under pressure and react to a changing environment · Ability to work flexibly · Team player · Ability to negotiate Personal Attributes: · Self-motivated · Ability to make decisions and use own initiative · Creative and motivated to organise and run stimulating children’s activities · Prepared to learn new skills
