Located on Gadigal and Bidjigal land (Randwick NSW), Black Dog Institute is the only Medical Research Institute in Australia to investigate mental health across the lifespan. The Role
The Research Assistant plays a key role in supporting research projects as part of a multidisciplinary team of researchers in the area of child mental health research. This position will provide research and project assistance to research staff in activities associated with the project entitled Empowering Parents to Optimise Child Anxiety Treatment. The project aims to investigate how to best support parents to optimise exposure-treatment outcomes for child anxiety.
The role reports to the Senior Postdoctoral Fellow within the Child Mental Health Team at Black Dog Institute.
Duties & Responsibilities
Research
* Assist the Senior Postdoctoral Fellow with research tasks including, but not limited to, ethics preparation and management, secure data collection, recruitment and management of research participants, data handling and management, and the day-to-day running of the project.
* Adhere to all research ethics and governance codes, regulations, and protocols.
* Undertake mandatory training, including GCP, research integrity training, and cyber security training.
* Cooperate with all health and safety policy and procedures of the Institute and take all reasonable care to ensure your actions or omissions do not impact the health and safety of yourself and others.
Project Support
* Maintain the collection and storage of research data in accordance with the project’s data management plan and relevant confidentiality requirements.
* Assist with management and recruitment of research participants, including organising data collection and research participation.
* Coordinate, plan, and complete day-to-day research activities according to agreed project timelines and responsibilities and in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
Selection Criteria
* A University Honours degree in a relevant field (e.g. psychology, public health, or a related discipline) or currently pursuing one.
* Familiarity with MS Office Suite.
* Good communication skills, both oral and written.
* Experience working efficiently to a deadline.
* Ability to work effectively within a small team.
* Self-motivated with the ability to work independently when needed.
* Familiarity with ethical guidelines and practices in research.
