We, at Leggett & Platt Inc., are searching for a Supplier Quality Engineer within our Quality team to help support our Aerospace business. At L&P Aerospace, we specialize in creating complex tube and duct assemblies using high-performance materials capable of withstanding extreme pressure, temperature, and chemical interactions. How high are our quality standards, you ask? So much so, that we have products on-board the Space Launch System with NASA, as well as the F-15 and F-35 fighter jets! The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) is a critical role within the business, responsible for ensuring that suppliers meet the company’s quality standards, by implementing robust quality processes and supplier audit plan driven by a risk-based approach using analysis of supplier data of product non-conformance and product criticality.
Core Responsibilities
* Manage supplier quality management process.
* Maintain and develop supplier quality management process to ISO9001, AS9100, NADCAP and other aerospace and customer specific requirements.
* Maintain and develop a comprehensive supplier audit structure with clear audit schedule and audit performance.
* Define and lead supplier corrective action process, with reporting system to control and improve supplier quality throughout the business through audit nonconformance and internally identified product nonconformance.
* Provides training and mentoring of others within the business to conduct supplier audit.
* Supports quality assurance with internal auditing.
* Implements requirements within incoming inspection, for improved robust purchased part inspection.
* Maintains process for containment coordination to manage containment of purchased product.
* Maintain, develop, and improve processes and procedures ensuring they meet the current and future needs of the business.
* Supporting Quality Assurance tasks as required.
* Leads team-based problem-solving projects for root cause analysis, corrective & preventive actions for process, product, customer and supplier concerns.
Role Specifications
Required Skills:
* The role requires good communication skills, attention to detail and the ability to analyse and solve complex problems. The SQE plays a critical role in ensuring that the company’s products are of the highest quality and meet expectations.
* Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills to drive tasks to completion.
* Use of Microsoft office applications such as excel, word.
* ISO 9001; AS9100 qualified auditor with experience of conducting quality audits and developing/mentoring other internal auditors.
* Extensive experience with QMS development, application, and maintenance to ISO 9001; AS9100 essential.
* Experience working with First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR’s)
* Ability to select and use applicable methods, procedures, and standards to meet targets.
* Experience in problem solving/8D methodology and dealing with customer returns and complaints.
* Solid analytical skills and judgment to proactively identify and solve increasingly complex problems.
* Strong attention to detail, good organizational skills and the ability to prioritize with changing situations.
Desirable Skills:
* Lead auditor trained.
* Experience working alongside NADCAP Welding & NDT requirements.
* Experience working with PPAP’s and APQP.
* Experience of working within or implementing requirements of AS13100.
Education:
Post-Secondary degree or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectation.
