Key Responsibilities
1. Plan and execute ground investigation projects, including borehole drilling, trial pitting, and in-situ testing.
2. Supervise subcontractors and site operatives to ensure compliance with project specifications and health and safety standards.
3. Conduct environmental and geotechnical sampling of soil, rock, and groundwater.
4. Maintain accurate site records, including daily logs, photographs, and test results.
5. Liaise with clients, consultants, and regulatory bodies as required.
6. Assist in preparing factual and interpretive reports based on site investigation data.
7. Contribute to the development of project-specific risk assessments and method statements.
Qualifications and Skills
1. A degree in Civil Engineering, Geology, Geotechnics, or a related field is preferred.
2. Experience in ground investigation fieldwork, ideally within a contracting environment.
3. Understanding of UK standards for ground investigation (e.g., BS5930, Eurocode 7).
4. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively in a team.
6. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with geotechnical logging software.
7. A full UK driving license is essential.
