The role will involve providing professional planning advice to external clients and other teams within the multidisciplinary business. You will also be responsible for preparing, making and running a broad range of planning applications. Under guidance of the team leader, the Senior Planner will be expected to carry their own case load. You will be working directly with clients on a range of projects, from major residential, commercial and leisure development projects to smaller scale rural schemes.

Salary and Package
Permanent position. Fulltime (9am-5.30pm).
23 days holiday plus bank holidays (increasing to 25 days plus Bank holidays).
£40,000-45,000 per annum dependent on experience.
Discretionary bonus.

Qualifications and Skills
1. A degree qualification in a relevant Planning or related degree (accredited by the Royal Town Planning Institute).
2. Chartered Membership of the RTPI is desirable but eligibility to apply for membership will be considered.
3. Experience will ideally include recent development planning or development management experience in the private or public sector.
4. High standard of technical ability with good understanding of current town planning issues and the town planning process.
5. Excellent written, oral, numerical, organisational and communication skills.
6. Strong team working capabilities.
7. Positive commitment to team and personal project delivery.
8. Ability to apply knowledge to practical situations and pay attention to detail.
9. Commercial focus.
Responsibilities and Duties
1. Working as part of the planning team to deliver a range of Planning and Development projects.
2. Writing and reviewing planning reports to a high standard. This includes development appraisals and planning advice, Planning Statements, Appeal Statements, Local Plan/Policy representations and relevant Environmental Statement chapters where necessary.
3. Preparation, management and negotiation of planning submissions. This will include working alongside and project managing other disciplines.
4. Provide professional planning advice and support to other areas of the business.
5. Responsible for own client accounts and all areas of client care.
6. Helping with or leading the preparation of fee proposals and tenders.
7. Communicating and liaising effectively with colleagues within the team and across the firm.
8. Helping to bring additional work opportunities to the planning team through building strong relationships with existing and future client base.
9. Thinking both creatively and logically to apply planning experience and knowledge to secure beneficial planning strategies.
10. Where appropriate, responsibility for the financial monitoring of projects, document control, progress reporting and other project management tasks.
11. Attendance at events and meetings. On occasion these may be outside of normal working hours e.g. attendance at planning committee, other company promotional/professional events.
