We are looking to appoint a Cancer CNS Support Worker to work within the established Cancer Support Worker Team based within the Sunrise Centre. Candidates must have extensive administration and organizational skills along with excellent communication and people skills, ideally with a good understanding of NHS healthcare systems and processes.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will support the Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNSs) by providing a robust administration and support service, which will involve managing phone calls, coordinating pathways and appointments, requesting diagnostics, expediting imaging requests, requesting transport, completing STRATA referrals, and assisting with CNS clinic management. In some cases, the post holder will support patient groups and forums alongside the CNSs. The post holder will also be expected to attend MDTs and support surveillance programs.

A two-year fixed term post working 37.5 hours per week.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Diploma level qualification or equivalent experience e.g. good knowledge across a range of health or social care settings.
* Courses/further study attended to demonstrate evidence of personal development.
* Knowledge of medical terminology.
Experience
* Extensive administrative and organizational experience. Experience in the use of hospital computerised patient systems. Extensive experience communicating and being main point of contact for patients.
* Knowledge of cancer pathways and treatments.
Skills
* Excellent communication skills. Proven ability to work to deadlines, prioritize and multi-task. Friendly and approachable manner. Polite, sympathetic, patient, and diplomatic. Flexibility - able to work flexibly to accommodate peaks and troughs of activity. Reliability.
* Experience in systems such as PAS, Maxims, CRIS, SCR, Scorpio, Winpath.
* Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
