In this role you will support the Life Cycle Assessment Regulatory Science and Innovation Network (LCARSIN) to disseminate information and strengthen relationships amongst strategic audiences, including policy makers, academics and industry. LCARSIN members will develop guidelines and feed into policy and regulation to ensure fair sustainability assessment of processes and products to move us closer to a sustainable future.
In this important and influential role, you will work closely with the LCARSIN leadership team (internal and external) to develop a website for the newly formed network and turn technical information into engaging marketing assets for a variety of audiences, across a number of digital formats. You’ll be experienced in briefing designers and others to help you produce targeted marketing assets. You will identify opportunities to raise awareness of the network and design campaigns to maximise these opportunities, taking a lead on planning, content creation, sign-off, budgets, delivery, monitoring and evaluation.
Main duties and responsibilities
* Develop and lead on the implementation of the LCARSIN communications plan
* Turn technical information from academics, working groups and research into engaging copy for a variety of strategic audiences including policy makers, academics and industry
* Oversee and create content for LCARSIN communications channels, including website, newsletters, social media and news feeds
* Oversee development of the LCARSIN website (funding is available for website development) and manage and create content
* Work with the media teams of the partners to promote the work of the network
* Manage multiple concurrent projects and deliver them on time, to a budget and to a high standard
* Carry out other duties, commensurate with the grade and remit of the post
Person Specification
* Have a good honours degree or equivalent experience (assessed at application)
* Have previous experience in a public affairs, external relations or communications role (assessed at application / interview)
* Have evidenced ability to lead on the planning, implementation and monitoring of marketing activity including overseeing decisions relating to creative, budget and channels. (assessed at application / interview)
* Have effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate at all levels, across media. Excellent standard of written English, including grammatical accuracy. (assessed at application / interview)
* Have experience of managing and creating digital content for social media, including knowledge of best practice and reporting on performance. (assessed at application / interview)
* Ability to persuade and influence others, including experience of developing and maintaining stakeholder relationships (both internal and external) (assessed at application / interview)
* Have excellent customer service skills with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and priorities (assessed at application / interview)
* Understanding of the importance of data protection and confidentiality, with the ability to act with discretion and diplomacy. (assessed at application / interview)
* Have knowledge of or experience working with life cycle assessment or the foundation industries (assessed at application / interview)
* Have experience writing white papers or similar communications to policy makers (assessed at application / interview)
