The Raytheon UK Weapons team has a fantastic opportunity for a new engineer to join and assist in delivering complex and high-profile programmes to customers based in the UK. As a result of new contracts, the engineering team is rapidly growing and therefore we are looking for a motivated Embedded Systems Engineer with a background in embedded software systems, system architecture, designing to a set of requirements and with a keen interest in weapon systems.

The role will be based at Raytheon’s Harlow facility. The successful candidate will have access to professional development opportunities and be part of the growing Defence Business in Raytheon UK, delivering engineering expertise across a wide range of projects to both military and civil customers worldwide.
Main Duties:
The successful applicant will support the Weapons Team across various programmes (both internally and Customer funded) and will involve the following main duties:
1. Create and manage architectures for complex embedded systems
2. Understand, decompose and verify embedded system requirements
3. Define and perform unit level and sub system level testing for embedded software systems
4. Work alongside our embedded software, firmware and electronic design engineers
5. Generate supporting design documentation and perform regular technical reviews
Candidate Requirements:
Essential:
6. Experience creating embedded system architectures
7. Experience testing and verifying requirements
8. Ability to program in C/C++
9. Able to present technical information clearly and concisely to others
10. Demonstrable analytical and problem solving skills
11. An openness to learn and try new techniques
12. Ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment - working independently or with others to overcome obstacles
13. Capable of analysing and reporting on technical data
14. Eligible or holder of current SC security clearance
Desirable:
15. Experience using the Vivado and Vitis design tools, or equivalent
16. Experience delivering an embedded system as a product
17. Experience creating hardware system architectures
18. Familiarity with the application of a systems engineering approach across the design and development lifecycle
19. Knowledge of defence engineering / airborne standards
20. Working with Model Based System Engineering tools such as Simulink
21. Weapon systems domain knowledge and/or experience in a similar field
