From 12 UK sites, our team of over 1,400 people deliver unique capabilities across air, land, sea, space and cyber for military, security and commercial customers, worldwide.
L3Harris MAPPS (Bristol, Burgess Hill and Barrow-in-Furness) provides an Integrated Platform Management System (IPMS) for the Royal Navy sub-surface and surface fleets, notably current Astute submarine and Queen Elizabeth Class (QEC) aircraft carriers, in-build Type 26 and Type 31 frigates. This software provides integrated monitoring and control of ship propulsion, electrical functions, auxiliaries and damage control machinery and systems.

What the role will involve
The responsibilities of your role will include the following:
9. Provide proactive support and guidance on IT Security matters for specific project, product and infrastructure activities
10. Ensure that documented security policies and procedures are in place for all IT systems and comply with customer requirements.
11. Collaborate with project teams to conduct security risk assessments for all IT systems, advise on the management and mitigation of risk through the implementation of security controls and report findings to the Security Manager
12. Investigate IT Security incidents in accordance with the Company’s Incident Management and Forensic Readiness Policies and report findings to the Security Manager
13. Conduct on-site internal security audits across all L3Harris MAPPS sites and provide cyber security input to external security audits as required by prescribed policy
14. Provide proactive advice and information on current and emerging IT security threats and mitigation methods to the Head of Security
15. Support the Security Awareness Plan by promulgating IT security awareness across the company through a range of mediums including contribution to newsletters, specific training, education campaigns and project specific guidance and support
16. Assess Corporate IT change proposals on behalf of the MAPPS businesses to ensure continued compliance with customer requirements and raise questions and concerns as applicable to the MAPPS business.
What you’ll bring
The role of IT Security Officer requires the following experience and skills:
17. Significant working knowledge and understanding of HMG Policy, Cyber Essentials Plus and ISO27001 Standards
18. A proven track record of delivering effective IT Security
19. Experienced in the production, review and analysis of cyber security documentation
20. Experience of working with risk management frameworks
21. An excellent understanding of information security concepts, protocols and best practice
