Just Food Recruitment is recruiting for a Head of Compliance to join this growing and ambitious food manufacturing company that specializes in the Food Service industry.

Job Purpose:
To ensure that the compliance thread runs through all areas of the business, thereby ensuring product is manufactured with the highest safety and compliance standards.
To ensure that customer and legal requirements for food safety, health & safety, and environmental considerations are recorded in a documented business system that is implemented and understood within the business.
Role Accountabilities:
1. Ensure relevant standards - HACCP based as appropriate - are communicated, understood, and applied to meet Food Safety, quality, and legal standards as well as customer specified requirements.
2. Effectively manage communication on all technical, Health & Safety, and environmental matters with customers (internal and external) and suppliers to develop relationships and ensure that business opinion is considered and respected.
3. Provide technical and Health & Safety input into the formulation and agreement of overall business strategy including budget and PIP initiatives. Through personal and team objectives, deliver technical, Health & Safety elements of the business strategy.
4. Identify and implement compliance KPIs (including but not limited to Food Safety, Health and Safety, and Environmental) to monitor standards and drive the business forward through continuous improvement.
5. Ensure that the Sustainability agenda is a common thread that runs through operational activity and strategies across the business.
6. Provide practical support to operational management to drive a compliance culture.
7. Team development – ensure that the appropriate team structures are in place, resourced with staff who enable the needs of the business, as well as reflecting company values.
8. Provide specialist knowledge to enable the business to exploit manufacturing, NPD, and commercial advantage whilst ensuring the required standards of food safety, quality, legality, Health & Safety, and environmental factors are met.
9. Ensure the relevant health, safety, and environmental standards are both implemented and documented in a recognizable and understood recording system.
10. Understand the Dietetic requirements from customers and relevant legislation. Liaise with the Dietitian to ascertain the impact on the business and what compliance standards the business requires to implement these.
11. Ensure that a safe working environment exists for all employees within the business, and that as a minimum, the standards set out in the SHE manual are met.
12. Compliance strategy – formulate a “living” strategy that reflects and enables the overall business strategy. Ensure that this strategy has been converted into appropriate compliance plans that are clearly understood and owned by the staff at every level of the business. Provide expert input into the overall compliance strategy as part of the Senior Management Team.
13. Change Management – where necessary, help to deliver change management programmes within the business to improve business compliance.
14. Measurement and Control – ensure that these KPIs are used at all levels through the compliance team to improve business performance.
