Job summary We are seeking a full time Diagnostic Consultant Radiologist to join our team at Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton, Somerset.The role attracts 10 PA's per week with a 1 in 12 on call rota commitment. You will be joining our existing workforce of 23 Consultant Radiologists. We provide a full range of imaging services at the main hospital site of Musgrove Park. Our Radiology department provides a full imaging and interventional service to cover the Hospital's role as a busy District General Hospital. Breast imaging and screening are provided by a Breast Care Unit, which is part of the Planned Care Division. Radiologists providing breast imaging services also perform general imaging duties. Our main department at Musgrove Park has excellent facilities and modern equipment and we also run x-ray and ultrasound (sonographer-led) services at our local community hospitals: Bridgwater, Minehead, West Mendip and Chard. We offer a wide range of cross-sectional imaging services at Taunton and our equipment includes 3 CT scanners, 3 MRI scanners, 4 ultrasound bays, Siemens e.cam Gamma Camera. We also have a dedicated Community Diagnostic Imaging Centre, this is run in partnership with Alliance Medical at Blackbrook Business Park, off Junction 25 of the M5. This centre has additional 1 CT and 2 MRI (Philips 1.5 and 3T) scanners, as well as additional plain film and ultrasound facilities. AAC interview dates are being planned for Friday 21st March 2025 or Friday 16th May 2025. Main duties of the job The job plan is 10 PA's with 8.5 clinical PA's (including 0.5PA for on-call) and 1.5 PA's for supporting professional activities. The working day runs from 08:30 to 17:30 and is divided into 2 x 2-hour sessions in the morning, 1 x 1-hour session over lunch and 2 x 2-hour sessions in the afternoon. Some key responsibilities associated with the post are: Deliver a full range of specialist diagnoses, treatment and care to patients requiring imaging services to the highest possible standard. Assume responsibility for the organisation, management, and diagnosis of treatment of patients in the hospital, in conjunction with colleagues across the hospital. Provide emergency cover in accordance with the department's on-call rota (and outside of the rota in exceptional circumstances). Supervise the education of Junior Doctors, through effective scheduling of their teaching and training activities in support of professional and personal development. Mentor/Coach Junior Doctors and provide assessments and appraisals ensuring any appropriate remedial action is taken where appropriate. Initiate and supervise audit projects in order to actively contribute to the development and reporting of Clinical Quality Standards. Work with colleagues to develop service in line with key stakeholders (patients, commissioners, etc). Research activities as agreed with the Clinical Director.
