We have a fantastic opportunity for a Mechanical Craftsperson to join us in Barnstaple. This is a full-time, permanent role with a competitive salary of £34,368 - £40,729 per annum. Benefits include a guaranteed standby allowance, payments for call-outs and overtime, a company van, and other excellent benefits. The role involves a 37-hour week with 1 in 4 Fridays off.
About the role:
As the Planned Mechanical Craftsperson (Planned Mechanical Maintenance Engineer), you will fault-find, repair, and maintain assets across wastewater treatment sites, ensuring maximum asset availability and compliance, supporting our vision to minimize pollution and risk.
What you will be doing:
* Perform planned maintenance on mechanical equipment, including pumps, gearboxes, and treatment machinery.
* Apply first-level maintenance activities.
* Carry out complex repairs on large plant equipment.
* Work in confined spaces or at heights using breathing apparatus if required.
* Develop skills in electrical disconnections and working in potentially explosive atmospheres.
* Collaborate with other disciplines within the team.
* Maintain health and safety standards and work safely at all times.
* Maintain training and competencies as per job requirements.
Additional responsibilities include:
* Specifying parts for repairs and stock management.
* Manufacturing and fabricating parts and equipment.
* Undertaking necessary training.
* Supporting operational problem-solving.
* Keeping internal customers informed.
* Using and requesting method statements and safe systems of work.
* Acting as the duty mechanical craftsperson on standby on a rota basis.
What we are looking for:
* Completed apprenticeship in a relevant technical discipline.
* Understanding of RAMS for safe maintenance.
* Experience with wastewater treatment processes (desirable).
* Ability to fault find and repair complex mechanical equipment.
* Full UK driving license.
* CompEx 11 certification.
* Welding or fabrication experience.
