As a key support to the Team Leader, the Senior Inspector will play a pivotal role in upholding the team's high standards by leading report reviews and offering mentorship and guidance to team members. Drawing on extensive experience and expertise, the Senior Inspector will conduct Principal, General, and Special Inspections of Highway Structures, assessing defects and evaluating potential risks to both the structures and public safety.
The Role
1. Undertaking Inspections at all levels, preparing own and checking of others inspection reports.
2. Preparation of Safe Systems of work for the undertaking of inspections.
3. Management of Inspection sites and support contractors.
4. Preparation of tender documents for inspection support contracts.
5. Immediate reporting of safety defects.
Minimum Requirements
1. HNC or degree in Civil Engineering (desirable) or demonstrable experience in field (essential).
2. Good understanding of structural behaviour and detailed knowledge of inspection codes and standards (essential).
3. Demonstrable ability in assessing risk in relation to highway structures and proposing mitigation measures when safety defects are identified (essential).
4. Experience of liaising and negotiating with 3rd parties such as Network Rail and landowners (desirable).
5. Good level of IT literacy, use of Excel, Word (both essential) with experience in preparation of drawings using software (desirable).
