Currently recruiting for an experienced Control and Instrument Engineer on a contract basis for an E&P company based in central Aberdeen. It is an initial 12-month contract position, and the company are only considering PAYE contractors for this particular role.
This role would suit a candidate who has some operations experience and is used to dealing with late life legacy issues within the oil and gas industry. You must be able to prioritise and manage multiple simultaneous scopes/issues. Embedded within the Operations Team, the post holder will manage C&I equipment and systems on late life assets. Budgetary accountability for control & instrumentation equipment will also be a key part of this role.
The Control and Instrument Engineer will have the following main duties and responsibilities:
* Ensuring C&I System compliance with legislative requirements and good engineering practice.
* Being aware of appropriate discipline legislation, safety cases and safety management systems required to support the role.
* Owning and maintaining the asset CAT 1 C&I documentation.
* Maintaining asset performance standards and planned maintenance assurance routines.
* Managing SECE’s and ensure compliance with performance standards.
* Liaising with regulator and ICP to ensure compliance.
* Ensuring application of company procedures and policies, support/deliver asset improvement plans, and ensure continued safe reliable operation.
* Where applicable review and input to operational risk assessments.
* Responsible for all aspects of functional safety from HAZOP, IL Determination, IL Validation and maintaining of associated asset documentation.
* Providing front line technical support to the assets, ensuring troubleshooting is managed efficiently and effectively. Participating in incident investigations and producing reports i.e. RCFA investigations for equipment failures.
* Coordinating and managing the instrumentation and control aspects of asset delivery plans, managing and coordinating third party vendors, and ensure MAXIMO system is updated.
* Contributing to asset operations plans, ensuring maintenance scopes are adequately provided for.
* Leading C&I management of engineering change.
* Identifying opportunities and deliver enhancements to the safe and reliable operation of equipment, whilst ensuring production efficiency is maintained.
* Managing operations engineering studies as and when required to support business and safety objectives.
* Reviewing equipment reliability & availability with the aim of identifying bad actors and developing improvement plans to address bad actors.
* Assessing obsolescence and sparing philosophy and optimise.
* Being the custodian for the asset C&I system maintenance strategies and ensure they are updated to reflect current industry standards/manufacturer guidelines.
* Managing asset maintenance budgets.
* Managing critical and operating spares with the aim of ensuring spares are available.
Experience / Qualifications:
Essential:
* A degree qualification in a relevant engineering discipline.
* Certification to travel offshore.
* Previous experience in a similar role directly within the North Sea oil and gas industry.
* Experience of control and instrumentation engineering and in delivering maintenance support to operating assets.
* Knowledge of design safety through the application of inherently safe design and international standards relating to instrumented protection systems.
* Experience in the production of SoWs, BoDs and engineering work packs for vendor and offshore work scopes.
Desirable:
* Chartered Engineer status.
* Accredited Functional Safety Engineer.
* Operations-based experience within the North Sea oil and gas industry.
