The English team at Coventry College is passionate, dynamic, and adventurous. We immerse young people and adults into English language and 19th-century non-fiction literature as part of the GCSE specification. In addition, the team focuses on embedding knowledge, skills, and behaviours that underpin the GCSE and Functional Skills qualifications. The department thrives on innovative delivery models and teaching styles that captivate our young people and adults whilst meeting local needs. Students, employers, and the community are at the heart of our curriculum design with strong links within vocational areas.
The College is focused on ensuring learners progress onto careers and/or relevant higher education in order to retain them in this fast-paced city to improve the skills of the local workforce.
As a Lecturer in English, you should:
1. Hold a relevant Level 3 qualification
2. Hold a teaching qualification or be willing to work towards one
3. Be able to evidence continuing professional development
You should also be able to demonstrate:
1. Experience of teaching English up to GCSE Level
2. Evidence of effective tracking and monitoring of a wide range of students on a range of different programmes
3. Enthusiasm for teaching English, and a love of the subject, with an ability to motivate and inspire learners to succeed.
