Job details We are looking for an experienced Senior Carbonate Sedimentologist to join our highly collaborative team Reporting to the Geology Team Lead, you will use your geoscience skills to generate, compile, synthesize, and interpret geological data. Using your carbonate sedimentology expertise in an applied environment, you will technically collaborate in a multidisciplinary team and have responsibility for using a range of techniques and processes to contribute to exciting projects. We are looking for individuals who are intuitive, ask questions, and will continuously seek to improve our interpretations and processes. The ideal candidate must be able to drive projects using a range of techniques, software and processes relating to the areas of carbonate sedimentology. They must have the ability to accurately generate and interpret data and prepare professional reports related to their specific discipline. Key Responsibilities Depending on their preferred role/area of focus, the successful candidate should have many of the skills identified below. The skills possessed by the candidate must be highlighted in their application. Accurately generate and interpret data related to Carbonate Sedimentology and prepare professional deliverables, notably: Undertaking core description, facies analysis and depositional modelling. Conducting petrographic analysis, utilising light microscopy, automated mineralogy (QEMSCAN) techniques, SEM and XRD in the assessment of authigenic mineralogy, phases of diagenesis and controls on reservoir quality. Integrating core analysis and other geological data in the assessment of reservoir quality. Integrating multi-datasets in sequence stratigraphic analysis and both facies and reservoir quality mapping. Collaborate and integrate with other technical disciplines to gain detailed subsurface insights. Take part in and lead client meetings, presenting both internally, externally, and at conferences. Support in the content creation and delivery of training programs. Mentor and coach junior staff, providing feedback when required to aid their career development. Maintain open communication and collaboration with teams and clients. Coordinate or manage projects that involve diverse data and stakeholders, with the ability to define and manage project deadlines. Contribute to business development for Viridien. Qualifications Educated to Degree, Masters, or PhD-level in the field of Carbonate Sedimentology and have experience applying their knowledge in a commercial or academic environment. Key Skills and Experiences Passion and enthusiasm for science, geology, and problem-solving. Experience in producing and interpreting sedimentological datasets. Ability to develop and maintain positive client relationships. Experience in successfully managing and delivering on project deadlines. Enthusiastic attitude towards learning and flexibility to adapt to new challenges or changes in direction. Ability to quickly locate, digest, and compile information from different sources. Understanding of the impact of data and technology and the potential for enhancements to address technical and commercial opportunities. Experience in mentoring and coaching junior staff and/or students and providing feedback to aid their development. Willingness to travel as required for business. Desirable Skills and Competencies Programming, data science, statistics, generating visualizations, or related skills. Experience in interpreting and integrating data from other technical disciplines, such as seismic, geochemistry, stratigraphy, and/or petrophysics. Knowledge of reservoir model builds and inputs.
