The Role & Key Responsibilities

In this role you will be working as part of the Central Quality Management Team, responsible for the maintenance of forensic quality standards across the forces. You will utilise your knowledge of quality standards and regulation (e.g. BS EN ISO/IEC 17025, Forensic Science Regulator's Code of Practice) to ensure compliance across various units within Surrey and Sussex Police, working closely with operational teams such as CSIs, Digital Forensics, Fingerprints etc. You will work as part of a team to develop a culture of quality, influencing peers and police managers around quality requirements and compliance. You will receive in-house training around the role and the Quality Management System used.
As part of the Quality Management Team, you will actively manage the Quality Management System for the force, ensuring adherence to key supporting activities such as auditing, investigation into non-conforming work and document reviews. You will work with the team to actively promote continual improvement opportunities both with operational units and the wider Quality Management System.
Skills & Experience
The requirements for this role are:
Qualifications:
Relevant scientific degree or recent experience working within a quality environment (policing or laboratory)
Knowledge, skills & experience:
Thorough knowledge of relevant regulatory guidance including BS EN ISO/IEC 17025, BS EN ISO/IEC 17020 and the Forensic Science Regulator's Code of Practice
Excellent communication skill with the ability to explain complex/technical information to people of all levels
Excellent written communication skills including clear and concise documented procedures and processes for others to follow
Proven ability to manage a high workload and prioritise work accordingly often with tight deadlines
Experience of auditing processes
Good knowledge of IT software tools including Microsoft Office programs
