About the Role
As our Domestic Abuse Coordinator, you'll be at the forefront of coordinating specialist support and advocacy to tenants affected by domestic abuse. Working with neighbourhood-based colleagues, you'll collaborate closely with internal colleagues, external agencies, and local authorities, to ensure that those experiencing abuse receive the appropriate safety measures and support services they need. Being a critical friend is vital in this role as you'll be responsible for ensuring all cases managed by frontline colleagues meet a quality assurance framework, providing accountability of our services whilst ensuring our tenants receive the support they need.
Responsibilities include, but aren't limited to:
Be the go-to expert for domestic abuse cases, guiding colleagues and advocating for tenants.
Conduct risk assessments and develop tailored safety plans.
Work with agencies like the police and social services to ensure effective support and holding agencies to account.
Developing and deliver training to raise awareness and improve responses to domestic abuse.
Contribute to policy development and service enhancements.
Maintain accurate case records and provide performance reports.
Being responsible for a quality assurance framework that ensures equitable outcomes for tenants.
Representing Midland Heart at MARAC and other interventions/forums.
This is a brand-new role we're introducing which offers you the opportunity to utilise your experience of domestic abuse issues and implement improvements to our services leading to a positive impact and experience for our tenants.
Our Ideal candidate? To be successful in this role, you'll have:
Received training in domestic abuse awareness and support (e.g. IDVA or MARAC training).
A qualification (or willingness to work towards) in social work or housing management.
Experience in supporting individuals affected by domestic abuse or related advocacy.
Strong knowledge of domestic abuse legislation and safeguarding.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
The ability to handle sensitive situations with compassion and confidence.
Our colleagues deliver services from the location that they are best delivered on any given day. This means that you should expect to work from a Midland Heart site as a minimum 3 days week (on average). To successfully deliver this role, you must be willing and able to travel across the portfolio to attend MARAC and tenant visits where needed.
