Principal Responsibilities
People
1. Be supportive, act with integrity, show enthusiasm and embrace openness
2. Have detailed understanding of the Princes Manufacturing System (PMS) and maturity matrix, and site must win battle plans
3. Understand and implement lean manufacturing work practices including 5s, AM, problem solving (including root cause analysis) to drive continuous improvement activity at site
4. Provide cover for the Shift Operations Manager and fellow Operational Team Leaders for sickness and holidays
5. Effectively manage people resources through the attendance management policies, and conduct disciplinary hearings up to written warning stage.
6. Conduct the quarterly performance reviews utilising the current performance management structure, carrying out any capability reviews as required.
7. Effectively mentor, coach and develop team members using the appropriate two-way communication channels.
8. Support any recruitment activity for key Manufacturing roles and carry out induction reviews as required.
9. Conduct ongoing reviews of Standard Operating Procedures, re-writing such procedures as required in line with the Integrated Management System.
10. Ensure compliance with other HR and food safety policies and procedures.
11. Define, shape and contribute towards the organisational structure and plan towards a self managed team environment.
12. Carry out behavioural audits and risk assessments in line with company policies, specifically clause 4.4.1.3 of the health and safety management system.
13. Ensure all training for all line personnel is documented using the appropriate skills matrix.
14. Manage and monitor the labour and FVO budgets for the relevant shift.
15. Effectively develop professional working relationships with other departments.
Plant
16. Arrange and co-ordinate Planned Maintenance activities in conjunction with the Planning and Engineering departments.
17. Co-ordinate the correction of any business system faults (SAP, MES, Scada)
18. Manage the delivery and reporting of Key Performance Indicators by shift.
19. SAP management and reporting.
20. Use Continuous Improvement methods for process optimisation and control.
21. Manage and monitor the hygiene and housekeeping to the highest standards in accordance with site technical and customer requirements.
22. Facilitate customer and technical audits (planned and unannounced.)
Materials
23. Co-ordinate Just in time activity.
24. Plan the quality control of incoming materials and report any variation or failures immediately.
25. Accurately manage material consumption from the lines, highlighting areas for concern and driving countermeasures to ensure waste is tightly controlled.

Essential
26. Experience of using manufacturing execution systems (MES)
27. Experience of coaching and developing people
28. Experience of managing a team
29. 5S and CI/BIT trained (or equivalent NVQ qualification)
30. Food Awareness and Hygiene certified
31. Intermediate level PC skills (Microsoft Office)
32. Planned and Autonomous Maintenance
33. Good working knowledge of SAP reporting, planning activity at local level, material control
Desirable
34. Basic Mechanical skills
35. IOSH certified
36. SAP knowledge
37. ILM Level 2/3 qualification (minimum Level 2 for internal applicants)
