Job Details
Clarkson Evans is the largest electrical and solar installer working in the new build housing sector, wiring over 24,000 homes a year. Established over 40 years ago, we now employ more than 850 staff across the UK and we work with the country’s major house builders. Training apprentices is a core part of our ethos. Through our award-winning in-house training, we’re proud to be continually developing newcomers to the electrical industry.
During this four-year apprenticeship, you’ll train to become a qualified electrician, with a focus on gaining the skills needed to wire new homes. You’ll spend the majority of your time working on new housing sites in the local area. One day a week will be dedicated to completing off-the-job training delivered through a mixture of remote learning and practical training at one of our training centres.
For the days you spend on site, you will work as part of a small team, wiring new homes from start to finish. Your team will include an experienced electrician and perhaps a second or third-year apprentice, who will help you build your skills over time.
Our electrical teams normally work Monday to Friday, starting early (7am or sometimes before) and typically finishing late afternoon. Working hours are not fixed, so a flexible attitude is essential. At busy times of the year, there will be a requirement to work late and at weekends.
Requirements
1. Candidates must be 18 or above
2. A full UK manual driving licence is required
3. It is essential that you have a minimum of GCSE grade C / 4 (or equivalent) in maths and English
4. Applicants are expected to have an interest in DIY or practical work
5. If you have any work experience, particularly in a physically demanding role, this will be an advantage but is not essential
Clarkson Evans is an equal opportunities employer and we’re proud of our fair and inclusive recruitment process. We recognise the benefits of having a diverse workforce and welcome applications from candidates from all backgrounds.
