An exciting and newly created opportunity has become available for a Financial and Controls Accountant to join YTL Construction UK.
Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will be responsible for leading the controls framework of the YTL Land and Property entities, performing reviews of financial controls, presenting results to the Finance Manager and suggesting improvements.
In addition, you will own the preparation of the financial statements and technical accounting policies across YTL Land and Property, currently eight active entities, across construction, development/real estate, asset management and asset operations.
You will work closely with the YTL UK Group, including Wessex Water, to ensure consistency across the group and be the first point of contact for technical accounting queries.
YTL Land and Property currently has a forecasted annual revenue of £286m and is expected to grow to circa £1bn in five years.
What you'll do
As an experienced finance professional, your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
* preparing and maintaining all YTL Land and Property financial statements in line with deadlines
* playing a key role in external audits, liaising with the auditors on financial requirements, and managing responsibility for deliverables within the team
* taking the lead for financial controls testing
* providing technical accounting papers to aid with audit and general accounting queries
* reviewing financial thresholds with the Finance Manager to ensure entities are in or out of scope for audit, and what content must be included
* creating, improving and managing the control framework
* preparing the quarterly controls report to the Finance Manager
* maintaining a full suite of process notes
* ensuring compliance with all finance processes, controls and regulatory framework
* supporting the maintenance and updates of the financial systems and assist in their development from a controls and risk perspective
* providing general support to your team and the wider business as and when required to increase capacity and improve business reporting.
What you'll need
In this important role, you will be a qualified Accountant (ACCA or ACA) and will have previous experience working in a similar role, or demonstrable audit and controls experience from a practice environment.
Knowledge of the construction and/or development industry would be preferred, however alternative industry sectors will be considered.
You will ideally have experience with COINS (our ERP system) or similar and the ability to work to tight deadlines.
You will also have a keen technical mindset and good attention to detail, communication and interpersonal skills.
