Electrical Applications Commissioning Engineer - North Yorkshire Based
£55,000 - £65,000 plus overtime, plus 10% site enhancement
Our client is looking to grow their service engineering team to support their growing customer base and widening range of capabilities by taking on a dedicated Electrical Commissioning and Service Engineer. The role requires a significant amount of travel throughout the UK.
Reporting to the Service Manager, you will be responsible for providing crucial support during the installation, commissioning and early life support phases of a range of projects, ensuring that the design and installation meets the needs of the customer. You will also provide support after installation and commissioning through the service contracts supporting customers with ad-hoc support request troubleshooting remotely and on site.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Coordinating Electrical and Instrumentation commissioning activities with the client and the engineering team on new builds and ongoing upgrades of existing systems.
2. Setting up of control panels, PLCs, HMIs, AC and DC Drives, instrumentation, etc. On and off site.
3. Carry out commissioning tests, review test results and produce test reports to confirm compliance with technical specifications.
4. Responding to on-call service requests, from breakdowns and faults on electrical and automation equipment remotely or on site or escalating issues to the engineering team.
5. Documenting and controlling all changes including software revisions as necessary.
6. Collaborate with Engineering, Quality and Service teams to ensure continuous development of machinery and equipment, processes and assist with technical issues.
7. Carry out minor installation completion works, modifications and snagging.
Essential Qualifications:
1. Experience of commissioning machinery and equipment in a heavy industrial environment such as Mining, Oil & Gas, Power Generation, Steel Production, or Rail.
2. Experience working with Siemens S7-1200/1500 range of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
3. Adept user of TIA Portal.
4. Ability to read and interpret PLC ladder logic and function blocks within the Siemens environment.
5. Full Driving License and willingness to travel to projects across the UK including North Yorkshire and Cornwall.
6. Demonstratable experience in E&I application fault finding.
7. Education: degree level. HND as minimum.
8. Demonstratable experience in site safety procedures (LOTO, RAMS, etc).
Desirable Qualifications:
1. Experience working with a range of instrumentation such as temperature sensors, pressure sensors, load cells and encoders.
2. Siemens Programming Certified.
3. Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
4. Ability to make minor wiring modifications within control panels and record any and all changes.
5. Experienced in following commissioning and test procedures.
6. Completion of IOSH Managing Safety course.
Salary & Benefits:
1. £55,000 to £65,000 based on 40-hour week.
