The Opportunity Are you a qualified PE Teacher with a passion for supporting young people who have faced challenges in mainstream education? We are looking for a dedicated and adaptable PE Teacher to join a Pupil Referral Unit, working with Key Stage 4 students. The Role This is a rewarding, temp-to-perm, and varied role where you will deliver engaging PE lessons (theory and practical) while also being willing to cover other subjects when required. As a PE Teacher in a PRU, you will work with small groups of students, many of whom have SEMH needs, behavioural challenges, and/or previous trauma. Your role will be to inspire, engage, and motivate students through sport, promoting teamwork, resilience, and confidence. Alongside PE, you will be expected to cover other lessons when needed, providing consistency and structure for students. Main Responsibilities Plan and deliver engaging and inclusive PE lessons for Key Stage 4 students. Use sport and physical activity to support social and emotional development. Build positive relationships with students, acting as a role model. Be flexible in covering other subjects when required. Support students in managing behaviour and developing self-regulation skills. Work closely with colleagues, pastoral teams, and external professionals to provide a holistic support system. Create a safe and structured environment that encourages participation and progress. Essential Criteria Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). Experience working with challenging behaviour and SEMH needs. Ability to engage, motivate, and inspire students through sport. Strong classroom and behaviour management skills. Adaptability and willingness to be flexible. Resilience, patience, and a passion for helping young people succeed. Desirable Criteria Experience working in a PRU, alternative provision, or specialist setting. Knowledge of restorative approaches, trauma-informed practice, or de-escalation techniques.
