This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and driven service manager to be part of the development, delivery and progression of the newly commissioned Adult Critical Care Transfer Service (ACCTS) serving Kent, Surrey and Sussex (KSS).
The Kent Surrey and Sussex Adult Critical Care Transfer service is a regionally based critical care transfer service providing consultant led coordination, decision-support and transfer of critically ill patients between hospitals for time critical and non-time critical escalation to specialist care, retrieval, repatriation, and non-clinical transfers for capacity during periods of surge. The service is funded by NHS England South East and hosted by the Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust working with South East Coast Ambulance Service and all hospitals across Kent, Surrey and Sussex.
Main duties of the job
The Operations Manager role will provide operational and strategic management of the KSS ACCTS hosted by the Royal Surrey Foundation Trust. As part of the senior KSS ACCTS transfer service management team, this post holder will develop the service in accordance with strategic plans, including working alongside the clinical lead, lead transfer practitioner and duty transfer team.
The operations manager will provide management to the transfer team and work closely with the clinical lead and lead transfer practitioner to ensure the delivery of effective and high quality services to patients. They will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the critical care transfer services in accordance with agreed objectives, targets, quality standards, controls and resource constraints. They will also coordinate the planning, development and implementation of service improvement, capital and other projects for the areas they are responsible for. They will support clinical governance processes within their areas and assist clinical colleagues with the management of risk.
The role will also require the management of training, recruiting and retaining high quality staff, provide effective appraisal and team working and strong staff involvement in decision making within their sphere of responsibility.

Job responsibilities

The service leadership team will be based at The Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford, Surrey but will be required to travel to the hub sites and to sites across the NHSE South East region as required.

Communication is key and the post holder will have responsibility for establishing and maintaining robust systems to cascade information, receive feedback, and take appropriate action where necessary.
