About The Role Mobile Library Supervisor Permanent, Part Time £23,344 up to £26,011 per annum (full time equivalent) Location: Witham Working Style: Operational field-based worker Please note there is a requirement for applicants to have a current HGV class 2 driving licence and must be able to drive a 12-ton vehicle The role is for 17.25 hours a week on a 3-week rota as follows- Week 1: Thursday and Friday Week 2: Friday and Saturday Week 3: Tuesday and Wednesday Actual earnings based on 17.25 hours per week - £10,883 up to £12,126 per annum. The mobile library service is instrumental in providing a library service to our harder to reach residents due to mobility or geographical constraints. Hours may vary on a 3 week basis. Opportunity for part time role, and additional hours for cover etc. Flexible hours, Monday to Saturday. one in three Saturday's. The Opportunity The Mobile Library Supervisor has a sound working knowledge of Customer Services and specific business processes. They provide an efficient and effective mobile library service by carrying out the day-to-day operation, driving and supervision of mobile library services, maintaining a high level of customer care, acting as the first point of contact for public access to council services and undertaking a range of library tasks that support the delivery of a quality library service. Accountabilities To welcome library users and help to deliver a quality service, working at the base or other appropriate Library as required Support all stock circulation procedures using the library services online systems including issue and discharge of loanable items, membership routines, reservation procedures, stock maintenance, overdue procedures, to sort, shelve and tidy returned material, to liaise with library staff on stock exchange and other procedures including attendance at meetings as required. To maintain and clean the vehicles in accordance with the requirements set out on the daily log sheet book including delivery and collection of vehicles for maintenance/repair. To deliver books and equipment as required. To comply with the individual responsibilities for Health Safety & Welfare in the workplace, including ensuring safeguarding children, in accordance with work role. To participate in training and development and be responsible for self-development. To support the implementation of the Service Plan, being proactive in the promotion and marketing of all services, to contribute to the provision of statistical returns and to be involved in informal customer consultation. To carry out such other appropriate duties as may be required. The Experience You Will Bring Current HGV class 2 driving licence and able to drive a 12-ton vehicle Experience of driving large vehicles and carrying out routine vehicle checks At least 21 years old (for insurance purposes) Able to use online IT systems effectively and efficiently Demonstrable experience of working in a highly customer-focused environment with good communication and social skills Experience working with customers from a broad and diverse range of backgrounds; Able to deliver quality customer service. Desirable is an understanding of working with elderly people Future and improvement focused approach, embracing and advocating change with the ability to deliver new ways of working. Understanding of working within a Local Authority or other complex organisation. Knowledge of Health and Safety procedures and processes.
