Data Centre Operations Lead - 8 month contract / Day rate negotiable / Remote working
We have an exciting opportunity for a Data Centre Operations Lead to join us on an 8 month contract with remote working and the occasional visit to our Dublin and Reading offices.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for the management of the infrastructure environment including server OS, hypervisors, cloud environments, and enterprise applications.
2. Responsible for service delivery, including management and oversight of key data centre initiatives and management activities, development and monitoring of Key Performance Indicators (KPI) to measure performance data, SLA attainment, and promised and expected service delivery.
3. Partner with 3rd party data centre providers to deliver stable operations.
4. Manage governance of 3rd party providers.
5. Responsible for strategic projects and programmes within the data centre environment focusing on ensuring strict compliance to SLA’s and KPI’s.
6. Oversight of budget spend for all data centre related activity.
7. Support strategic DR programs through BCP planning and testing.
8. Support on-prem and cloud based virtual desktop environments.
9. Provide strategic and technical direction to service and project teams.
10. Ensure all infrastructure solutions are aligned to overall Infrastructure strategy.
11. Evangelise best practice, be a passionate technologist, and represent Infrastructure Operations within our future Enterprise Architecture framework.
12. Ensure the Data Centre roadmaps and backlogs reflect technology strategic direction.
13. Foster self-management and accountability at the team level through servant leadership.
14. Collaborate closely with senior management to create strategic objectives and organizational evolutions to better align business, product, and technical opportunities.
Knowledge & Experience Required:
1. Strong operational experience in the deployment and management of infrastructure toolsets, preferably within a retail environment.
2. Strong technical knowledge of data centre technologies including compute and storage environments, VMware hypervisors, Microsoft technologies, Unix/Linux environment, AIX/Oracle, etc., and management of operations around these.
3. Knowledge of cloud hosting and infrastructure, especially Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud.
4. Strong communication skills, both written and spoken, including the ability to explain complex issues to senior stakeholders succinctly.
5. Solid service improvement experience including the design and management of KPI / SLAs.
6. Able to direct workload activities and mentor staff within the team and external suppliers.
7. Extensive project planning and management experience.
