The Opportunity Opportunities available in London, Birmingham & Manchester We are looking for graduates with curiosity, personal drive and technical know how to join our Specialist Technology, Analytics and Research team as Structural and Mechanical Engineers. Our team brings together engineers of the highest technical calibre to develop inventive, practical and sustainable solutions to complex problems. Our projects are diverse and often relate to buildings, electric vehicles, infrastructure and offshore renewable energy, giving our graduate engineers the opportunity to develop a broad range of expertise while working alongside experts in their fields. Based in either Birmingham, London or Manchester, you will have a thorough understanding of first principles engineering, an interest in advanced analysis, and be open to diverse applications of these. You will also be able to demonstrate aptitude and enthusiasm for digital technologies such as scripting and programming. Your day-to-day responsibilities may include the following: Conducting finite element analysis Preparing structural calculations and structural design Completing research Visiting site and completing inspections, surveys and monitoring Developing digital tools Writing reports and preparing presentations Attending meetings and liaising with clients Supporting senior members of the team You will be following Arup's engineering institution-accredited graduate training scheme and be supported and mentored towards achieving Chartered Engineer status. You will have, or be studying towards, the following qualifications, attributes and skills: Engineering degree (Masters level in engineering science, mechanical, structural, civil, aeronautical or aerospace engineering) (2:1/60% or higher or equivalent) We expect a successful candidate to have taken at least one module in their third or fourth year covering one or more of the areas below and to have achieved a grade of 2:1 or above for such modules: Structural analysis Computational analysis / finite element methods Dynamics / vibration Mechanics of solids Earthquake engineering Interest in, or experience of, numerical analysis or simulation At Arup, you will belong to an extraordinary collective in which we encourage individuality to thrive.
