PLC Software Engineer Siemens TIA Portal South Yorkshire - Permanent - £55-60k + Overtime = £60-70k total earnings

Samuel Frank is recruiting for an experienced Siemens PLC Software Engineer with strong TIA Portal programming knowledge to join a Sheffield-based specialist engineering company. The successful PLC Software Engineer could have worked in any industry as long as the Siemens TIA Portal knowledge is strong!
Key aspects of the Siemens PLC Software Engineer role include:
1. Leading software activities for mainly material handling/conveyor type projects
2. Opportunity to progress to Lead Engineer role
3. Company has a culture of pushing the boundaries of what systems and technology can do
4. Contribute to the development and/or review of the project FDS
5. Design system architectures and software components using Siemens TIA Portal
6. Knowledge of SCL (Structured Control Language) for data management and loops is required
7. Conduct Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), and software validation
8. Oversee system integration, upgrades, and commissioning
9. Some site-based commissioning with a 50/50 split between office and customer sites; site visits are typically 2-3 weeks in duration
10. Experience with IP-based architectures, ProfiNet, ProfiBus, Asi, and other industrial network technologies
11. Understanding of design, build, and project delivery methods
12. Experience with high-level languages would be advantageous or a desire to learn (e.g., Python, C++, PHP, Java)
13. 1 day per week (when not working on site) can be worked from home
14. When working away, any hours worked over 40/week will be classed as overtime and paid at x1.25 for hours worked Monday-Friday and x1.5 for hours worked on weekends
15. Office hours are typically 8:15-5pm Monday-Thursday and 8:15-2pm on Fridays or you can choose to work 8:15-4:30pm Monday-Friday
16. Department manager estimates earning between £5-10k per year in overtime is realistic given the work schedule
17. All applicants need to be based in the UK and be able to travel internationally freely without restrictions
The role is easily commutable from the following places in South Yorkshire: Sheffield, Rotherham, Barnsley, Doncaster, Chesterfield, and Worksop, as well as locations further afield for those willing to commute, such as Leeds, Huddersfield, Wakefield, Selby, Wetherby, Hull, Mansfield, Nottingham, Reford, Derby, Lincoln, Buxton, Matlock, and Bakewell.
