Make a Difference as a Class Teacher at a Pupil Referral Unit
Are you a dynamic, resilient and flexible teacher passionate about supporting students who find traditional classroom learning challenging? We are seeking a dedicated Class Teacher to join a specialist Pupil Referral Unit supporting children and young people aged 4 - 16 who are at risk of exclusion or have been permanently excluded from mainstream education.
About the Role
As a PRU Class Teacher, you will play a vital role in delivering engaging, adaptive and practical learning experiences that meet the diverse needs of students. You will be instrumental in creating a positive, nurturing and trauma-informed learning environment that supports both academic and personal development.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan and deliver creative, engaging and differentiated lessons to re-engage students in their learning
* Develop and adapt curriculum materials to support students with SEND, SEMH needs, and those with gaps in their education
* Foster trusting and positive relationships with students using relational practice and nurture principles
* Create a safe, inclusive and inspiring learning environment, making use of outdoor learning opportunities where possible
* Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop strategies that support students’ social, emotional and academic progress
* Be flexible and willing to travel across different sites within the Bridgewater area to deliver lessons to various student groups
About You
We are looking for a passionate educator who:
* Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification
* Has experience working in primary education or with young people who have SEND and/or SEMH needs
* Can demonstrate a creative and adaptive approach to teaching, making learning accessible and engaging for all students
* Is committed to supporting students who have experienced trauma and significant gaps in education
* Is highly flexible, resilient and able to differentiate learning to meet a wide range of student needs
* Has a willingness to work across multiple school sites as needed
