Sompo has a unique opportunity for a Claims Operations Manager in our Claims Operations team in our UK business.
In this role, you’ll be responsible for all operational claims processing across both internal and outsourced teams, developing and embedding robust processes and ensuring appropriate controls and monitoring are in place so that we drive service excellence, speed and consistency in our claims handling across all lines of business.

What you’ll be doing:
* Develop, embed and maintain all operational claims processes.
* Ensure consistency of process across all areas of Claims.
* Continuous improvement of operational processes, including horizon scanning of appropriate new technology and tools.
* Develop and continually review suite of SLAs and KPI reporting.
* Where required, draft and maintain updates to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), including regular review of suitability.
* Management and oversight of all claims bordereaux processing, whether performed internally or by outsourced providers.
* Day-to-day management and oversight of Sompo’s primary claims outsource provider as an extension of the internal team.
* Run all month-, quarter-, and year-end processes.
* Reconciliation exercised where required.
* Be the main point of contact for liaison with Underwriting Operations and Finance Operations, and ensure that end-to-end processes which span multiple departments are efficient with appropriate handoffs and clear responsibilities and accountabilities agreed.
* Ensure integrity of claims-related financial transactions and reporting through robust, consistent processes and reconciliation.
* Managing exceptions and problem-solving.
* Dealing with day-to-day operational queries and managing through to resolution.
What you’ll bring:
* Common sense, pragmatic approach.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels in the organisation.
* Understanding of key drivers of claims handling performance – both operational and technical.
* Experience working in claims management, ideally with an operational or process improvement focus.
* Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple things at once and prioritise accordingly.
* Experience of working successfully with outsource providers would be an advantage.
* Adaptability and a change-hungry mindset.
* Working knowledge of London Market claims handling processes and technology – experience of implementing Writeback would be a distinct advantage.
* Experience of leading an operational team.
